Fixed:
- Crashes during sieges
- Crashes while generating certain castle layouts
- A rare error when mission stayed incomplete when all of its tasks were completed
- A rare error when an army was considered to be located in another region, which led to inability to finish a quest
- Battle with Prussian foragers near Matowy will be generated correctly now
- Error when player info window stayed on screen while playing outro
- Exploit when player could escape from any battle
- Reserve troops are no longer taken into account while calculating army strength
- 'Return' option in some dialogs now works correctly instead of closing dialog window
- A castle will be auto-garrisoned after capturing it in all cases
- Wrong shadows rendering

Improvements
- Name generation. All units on strategic map now have correctly generated names. They consist of first names, 2nd name parts (for Mongols), last names or nicknames (for brigands and Prussians). All possible names are historically correct for a given nation.
- Tactical AI will react to being under fire more actively
- After completing the story campaign and starting the freeplay mode maps boundaries are expanded
- Handling of negotiations between weak player and enemy lords
- New mouse cursor shows inaccessible map areas

Gameplay changes
- Maximum AI army size increased to 30 regiments (was 20). If army contains more than 10 professional regiments ("Knights" or "Sergeants" level), it can contain twice the amount of militia troops.
- AI will try to hire roughly equal amount of Pikemen and ranged troops (Militia tier)
- Army spawn points corrected in quest tactical battles (engagement with Pippin brigands and battle with foragers near Chluhov)
- 50% more regiments will be auto-hired to garrison a castle after capturing it
- Chance of finding hireable siege equipment in medium and large towns and castles slighhtly increased
- Chance of having ranged troops in garrisons of towns and castles decreased
- Minimal ransom is now 20. Maximum ransom capped.
- AI armies strength hints are now visible near the player and not on the entire map. New 'Recon' skill that affects this distance will be added in a next patch.

-Several quest errors fixed, mostly in "Intercepting Foragers" and "Reaching the Rally Point".
-Lords in "Reaching the Rally Point" move normally after your conversation with Landmeister.

-Costs of replenishing losses are reduced for sergeants (-25%) and knights (-16%).
-Bandits aggression is reduced if the player's army is weak.
-Enemy will demand a smaller ransom if the player's army is significantly weaker. Ransom is not increased until player reaches level 6.
-"Destroying the Foragers' Camp" quest improved slightly. Enemy army now heads to Matowy only after you receive a message.
-A dialog screen in "Destroying the Foragers' Camp" can not be closed incorrectly.
-A victory screen after plundering a village can not be closed incorrectly.
-Changes in texts.
-You can't close a start screen incorrectly to avoid battle, and penalty for retreat.
-Before you start the siege, town\castle lord may engage you in the field.
-AI armies replenishing fixed. Winner restores most part of the army.
-Robbers' bands are restored.
-Garrisons of captured towns\castles\settlements are restored.
-Extortion is changed. If you consider opponent is too strong, and close battle window, you'll have to offer ransom.
-Estimate strength of enemy forces in tooltips changed.
-Upgrading costs were changed, upgrade to sergeants and knights now costs more, mounted archers cost much more.
-Icons of settlements added to economy and diplomacy map overlays.
-Army consumes food after a battle.
-Army does not consume food while stationary.
-Prussian lords now can hire more sergeants (since they don't have access to knights).
-Reserves will no longer disappear in assault battles.
-Numerous cosmetic fixes and improvements in the campaign.
-Faction relations changes are now shown in log.
-Retreat penalty added. Retreating army will suffer losses.
-Real price of hiring professional and elite units now matches description.
-Now auto-resolving a plunder engagement will give you trophies.
-Enemy army losses are now taken into account for determining earned experience and trophies after a battle.
-New diplomatic conversation option added to freeplay - "Personal insult".
-Amount of food left is now shown on the main screen (next to commander's level, money and battle experience).

BlackBerry’s QNX-Based Smartphone Leaked?

A photo purported to be the very first BlackBerry smartphone that runs on RIM’s new QNX-based BBX operating system has been droing its rounds online. The device, known by its codename “BlackBerry London,” has bold angular lines similar to the P’9981 and full touch screen on the front. (Gasp! No QWERTY keys!)

The London is said to be thinner and taller than the iPhone 4. But before you ask for a launch date, keep in mind that could either be a concept device, a prototype, or a very well-made fake. According to The Verge, which first got its hands on the device, they were informed that what they have is just a dummy unit. The actual device will said to have a 1.5GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. There will also be an 8-megapixel camera on the rear, as well as a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

Still asking for a potential launch date? The BlackBerry London will supposed to be unveiled formally on June 2012. That is, if there is an actual device.

Samsung Drops Patent Suits Vs Apple in South Korea

Korea-based newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reports that Samsung decides to drop its plans to sue Apple in South Korea for patent violations. According to the unnamed Samsung executive, his (or her) company will instead focus its cases in other countries.

“We concluded that we should engage in legal battles with Apple only in the global market, but not in order to gain more market share in Korea,” the senior executive stated. It is apparent that Samsung would rather maintain a positive image in its home country. You see, while Apple is a dominating brand in other countries, Samsung is the “it” brand of South Korea, where its name is plastered on almost anything from televisions to refrigerators.

The statement comes after the iPhone went on sale in Korea last weekend.

We have seen Nokia’s futuristic twist-to-control Kinetic concept device at the recent Nokia World and recently another concept is posted in the company’s blog. Like the prior concept, the teardrop-shaped device named “Humanform” uses a yet-to-be-explained nanotechnology. It comes with a bendable transparent display as well as a touch-sensitive casing.

Developed by Nokia’s in-house laboratory, the Humanform has a segmented design profile that works by using gestures a la Nintendo Wiimote and twist controls like its Kinetic device. The Humanform is Nokia’s vision of how the mobile world in the future.

HP Pavilion dm1z Gets Refurbished for the Business Types

HP has announced a new 11.6-inch laptop for the business market. The catch is that it’s not really new.

The HP 3115m is a newly-designed HP Pavilion dm1z, with buttoned-up specs for the astute tastes of the 1%. It comes with an AMD E-450 APU, an 11.6-inch screen with 1366 x 768 resolution, Beats Audio, flush trackpad, and a reported battery life of up to 11.5 hours. In its most basic model, the laptop features 2GB of RAM and 320GB 5400RPM hard disk drive. It also comes with HP’s Keyed Cable lock and Computrace Pro module to track your 3115m in case it gets lost or stolen and wipe its data clean.

The HP 3115m is set to be available in North and South America on November 11 with a starting price of $430, which is $30 more than the dm1z.

Apple Confirms Bugs in iOS5

After an influx consumer reports claiming that the iOS5 is sucking the life out of iPhones faster than usual, Apple has officially acknowledged that several bugs affect the battery life of its latest mobile OS.

In a statement released to tech blog All Things D, Apple said it would “release a software update to address those [bugs] in a few weeks.”

Complaints poured in online forums in recent days about how the iPhone 4S, as well as other Apple devices updated with iOS5, is consuming a lot of battery power mainly due to its power-demanding location services, which require constant pings to server. Despite the acknowledgement, Apple has so far released the iOS 5.0.1 Beta, which supposed fixes the bugs, to developers. We may have to wait for days, or even weeks before the update would land in our hands.

In the meantime, consider bringing your charger at all times.

Alcatel Set to Give Ice Cream Sandwich Update to One Touch 995

Forgive me for not knowing that Alcatel is still around and has been churning Android phones that are as inexpensive as its cell phones back in the day. However, the company has been gaining buzz because of its plans to upgrade its One Touch 995 with more premium specs.

The Android-powered smartphone will apparently be beefed up with a 1.4GHz processor, a 4.3-inch touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera, and the latest version of Gingerbread. All these will be encased in a shell that is “less than a centimeter thick.” Apart from all these updates, what really caught the attention of techies is the promise of providing an upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. This upgraded Alcatel One Touch 995 will cost 200 euros (US$276), which is reasonable for a large-screen Android phone.

Although Alcatel has to make this announcement official, these upgrades are expected to become official during Mobile World Congress 2012.

Dealing with iPhone 4S’ Short Battery Life

Just 17 days after the iPhone 4S is released and users have been complaining about the smartphone’s really short battery life. Although Apple claims that the iPhone 4S runs for up to eight hours of talk time and up to six hours of 3G Internet usage, that is not the case in real life. These complaints even include iPod Touch and pre-4S iPhones that have been updated with iOS5.

It has been observed that there are possible bugs in the iOS5 that may be causing it to suck the life out of your Apple devices, such as the calendar and time zone bugs. The calendar bug involves turning your calendar app on in the Notifications Center, which causes your events to “re-order themselves near-constantly.” Users can remedy this, for now, by disabling the calendar app within the Notifications Center.

Meanwhile, the time zone bug has to do with the phone’s location services, which also consumes a lot of battery energy. Users speculate that it has to do with the constant pings to servers to update location and time zone settings. Again, it can be solved by disabling it. Go to Settings > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone and toggle off the location services. However, since location services is necessary for some apps, you can selectively turn it on by going to Settings > Location Services and browse through apps that need to use your phone’s location.

Tech experts even recommend disabling a barrage of other functionalities of your iPhone 4S if you want to increase its battery life. Go into Systems Services and disable anything you deem unworthy, such as Diagnostics & Usage and certain email settings. You can also turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, as well as turn down screen brightness and even switching it to Airplane Mode to spare some more green bars.

If Apple does not take immediate action to remedy these complaints, they may get themselves into anotherAntennagate.

A scoop over at TechCrunch claims that a next-gen Motorola Xoom is about to be availabile in time for the holidays, particularly in Ireland. And by next-generation, we do not mean a modified family version of the tablet.

The word about the so-called Xoom 2 has been around for weeks and its supposed launch during Motorola’s Droid RAZR launch event never happened. Nevertheless, the rumor about the tablet’s holiday launch is fortified with a buyer’s guide from European retail website Carphone Warehouse, which also revealed spinkles of specs about the elusive gadget. The Xoom 2 features an 8.2-inchh touchscreen and Android 3.2 Gingerbread, which we hope will have an Ice Cream Sandwich update soon.

The site reveals that the 16GB WiFi-only model will be available in the Emerald Isle “later this year,” costing €399 (about US$545).
