Fujifilm FinePix JX420 Digital Camera

Compact digital cameras need not be always the latest in terms of features in order to be popular and catch attention. Sometimes it just needs to be affordable to a greater number of people in order to become one. Fujifilm might be taking this route when it comes out with the new FinePix JX420 Digital Camera in Japan.

The new Fujifilm FinePix JX420 Digital Camera features a 16MP CCD sensor in a slim body that also houses a 28mm wide Fujinon lens with 5x optical zoom. It also comes with a 10cm macro mode, an ISO range between 100 to 1600 and expandable to 3200. Other features include a 2.7 inch LCD screen, support for HD video recording and expandable storage using an SD or SDHC card. It features may not be that different for a lot of other compact digital cameras today. But its affordable price point may make it attractive enough. The Fujifilm FinePix JX420 is expected to be available in Japan by November. It is expected to cost around 13,000 Japanese Yen or around US$172.

JVC GC-PX10 Hybrid Camera and Camcorder

JVC unleashes its new camcorder that also works as a camera, or a camera that also works as a camcorder. We are just as confused.

Anyway, the JVC GC-PX10 features a long-barreled lens attached to a slender body. It can shoot video at up to 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second and capture photos at 8.3 megapixels even while in video mode.

Users can switch into still-shooting mode, which enables the device to capture 12-megapixel pictures at 30 frames per second for two seconds. For video enthusiasts who are into slow motion, the JVC GC-PX10 can record video in 640 x 360 resolution at 300 frames per second for up to two hours. These image and video files can be saved to the SDXC card or in the device’s 32GB internal memory.

The JVC GC-PX10 will be shipped beginning later in October, with an asking price of $900.

New Nikon D800 May Have 36-Megapixel Sensor

Nikon have yet to unveil its new D800 DSLR, but information about this upcoming camera has already been leaked. According to the rumors, the Nikon D800 will come with a whopping 36-megapixel image sensor. Sounds pretty impressive, that is if you have not heard of the megapixel myth (the more MPs in the camera, the better the image). For non-believers of the myth, any camera with sensors larger than six megapixels are a waste of money.

Anyway, a Japanese camera site has posted what are supposed to be the legit specs of the Nikon D800. Other sites could not believe it at first, until they themselves got the word that the camera will indeed include a 36MP sensor. Good luck storing image files that large into your SD and CF cards.

The Nikon D800 will also include 1080p video recording capabilities at 30 frames per second, four frames-a-second burst mode, a larger LCD, and can support both SD and CF cards. The camera will most likely come with a hefty $4,000 price tag, which is about $111 a megapixel.
